By Captain Marcos D. Gardo

Santa Catalina Island is part of the beautiful Channel Islands Archipelago, which stretches for miles along the Southern California coast. Just 22 miles long and 8 miles wide, rugged and beautiful Catalina Island is home to some of the richest marine diversity in the world. Although Catalina Island has been developed in certain areas, most of the island is still protected with most of the development centered in Avalon.

Located approximately 22 miles south-southwest of Los Angeles, Catalina Island makes the island a perfect destination for weekend vacations, honeymoons, weddings and day trips. There are unlimited ways to enjoy Catalina including diving, hiking, sailing, sport fishing, camping, golf and more. Each of these activities is deeply connected to the islands rich history.

Everything on the island has to be imprted from the mainland, which makes gas, groceries and just about everything else expensive and prone to shortages. Strict regulations on the number of vehicles allowed on the island has prompted residents to opt for modified golf carts as the primary mode of transportation. These things add to the island's charm and easy pace of life.

The island is managed by the Catalina Island Conservancy, whose mission it is to restore and protect the original flora and fauna. Interestingly, the Conservancy is also responsible for managing the wild buffalo, which were brought in and left behind by a film production over 50 years ago.

Golf carts and bicycles are the best ways to explore the narrow streets and meet locals. for those interested in the islands rich history, or seeking adventure, there are guided tours for just about everything on the island.

Accommodations are available for all budgets, as well as international cuisine, spa resorts, and yearly jazz and dance festivals. Whether you plan to stay a day or a few days, there are plenty of activities, places to eat, boutiques, and endless walks along the beach to keep visitors occupied. Santa Catalina Island is truly another world away from the rest of California, and a perfect, accessible getaway that is easy to plan and will satisfy your vacation wanderlust.

Discover The Many Apartments Magaluf Has To Offer

By James Arbuthnot

A magnet for the serious clubber, the apartments Magaluf has to offer the traveler are an excellent alternative to the hotels the destination has become synonymous with.

If you are headed to the Balearic destination to hit the clubbing scene, or are coming to just chillax and get your annual dose of sun, (or indeed a combination of both), this is an excellent destination to unwind.

However, Magaluf is far more than that, and during the day, the tired clubber can do no better than relaxing by the pool or on the beach. With many of the apartments Magaluf has to offer having their own pools too, this can be excellent for stag or hen events.

The apartments Magaluf has are, as you would expect with a large British contingent of visitors, extremely well maintained and superior in finish and facilities.

For those who want a more relaxing atmosphere, you should take to the hills. As with all the Balearic Islands, Majorca has stunning countryside. Cooler than by the coast too, the apartments Magaluf has on its slopes are beautiful. Many are exclusive, and unless you really wanted too, an entire day could be spent lazing by the pool here.

Magaluf is far more than simply a party and beach resort though. As with many modern holiday destinations, the number of sporting activities on offer are many and varied. For the adult, or the child - or indeed the adult child(!), you can enjoy throwing yourself around the go-karting track, or spending a morning relaxing on the golf course.

The younger visitors are most likely to take the easy option of staying in the hotels, however, if you are wanting a little more from your holiday, checking out the apartments Magaluf has to offer would be a step in the right direction.

Hanging out in Bondi Beach

By Brad Peterson

Just a short bus ride or car trip from the SW capital of Sydney, Bondi Beach is a must on your Australian to-do list. Pronounced with a long "i" as in Bonzai, Bondi is the place for beach days of sun and fun.

Founded in the 1850s as part of Sydney's expansion to the suburbs, Bondi Beach takes its name from an Aboriginal word meaning "waves crashing over rocks."

As a getaway from the urban center of Sydney, Bondi's white sand beaches and alluring coastline are a beautiful option. If you are around during the migratory seasons, you could spot dolphins or even whales off the coast. The rarely seen fairy penguin may even catch your eye.

For visitor orientation, start at the Pavilion Community Center and pick up some helpful information. This town hub also has changing rooms and showers for bathers, several eateries and an amphitheater.

Hitting the beach, stroll along the sandy coast and sunbathe with the bronzed locals, or take a swim in the clear blue waters on the northern side of Bondi Beach. For more challenging waves, surfers can head south, where the water can be perilous for a swim but heaven for a surf session. In the summer months, lifeguard patrols are all over the beach and shark nets are laid out for further protection.

Take in a bit of Bondi Beach's history and beauty with one of the scenic walks. Start at Bondi's old Pavilion, begun in 1928, on the way to the cliffs of Bronte. See the Hawkesbury sandstone belt which dates back to over 200 million years B.C. Or visit the old Bronte Baths en route to Waverley Cemetery.

Get into the racy bikini culture on Bondi Beach's southern end, where sunbathers have been known to flout the city ordinances and go topless. In fact, the beach holds the Guinness World Record for largest swimsuit photo shoot ever.

Popular local events include the 14-kilometer City to Surf Fun Run which takes participants from downtown Sidney to the sandy coastline of Bondi Beach every August. In September you can enjoy the Festival of the Winds, a kite festival which is fun for the whole family.

Along the waterfront is a wide variety of cafes, restaurants and bars to suit any budget. Have a pint in one of the pubs and see why the locals are known for their friendliness.

Bondi's stunning beach has caught the eye of the entertainment industry, as it serves as the location for Bondi Rescue (about beach patrols) and Breakers.

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Bondi hosted the beach volleyball tournament for all the world to see.

When staying overnight (or for weeks at a time), Bondi Beach has every type of accommodation, from boutique hotels to down-to-earth hostels for backpackers and mid-range hotels, all bases are covered.

Only a thirty minute drive outside of Sydney, Bondi is reaches by following Oxford Street as it turns into Enfield and then Bondi Road. Due to limited parking, locals suggest public transportation, which leaves constantly from Sydney.

Israel for Tourists

By Martin Pittaway

Israel's summer months, which occur during the winter for Australians, are completely dry. If you are coming for the sun, beaches and water sports, you can rest assured that not even one day of your visit will be interrupted by rain.

Israel boasts hundreds of miles of beautiful beaches dotted with world-class beach resorts. Para-gliding, wind-sailing, snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities are abundant. Scuba enthusiasts will especially enjoy the unique opportunity to dive among ancient Roman-era ruins in the shallows of the Mediterranean Sea, or enjoy the grand coral displays nestled in the clear blue waters of the Red Sea.

Israel also caters to hikers with vast networks of marked, but largely untouched hiking trails crisscrossing geographical locations as diverse as deserts, pine forests and snow-covered mountains. Come during Israel's winter months and you can even ski!

A Culinary Experience Israel has something special to offer the culinary tourist as well. Home to Jewish immigrants from around the world and Arab clans from all reaches of the Middle East, Israel's national menu is as diverse as they come. Chefs who compete at the highest levels in European competitions stand ready to serve up this wide array of specialties at an every growing number of gourmet establishments.

Complementing Israel's rich assortment of foods is a local wine industry that is starting to grab the attention of top international critics. Wines from many of Israel's boutique and larger wineries - all of which offer tours and tastings - continue to win international awards and accolades.

Historical Crossroads Having played host to some of the world's most ancient civilizations, Israel is a paradise for history buffs. Just about every patch of dirt in Israel has some bit of history underneath it, often making construction of new structures a nightmare.

Fully developed archeological sites providing a glimpses of life in pre-historic times, the biblical period, the Roman era and the Middle Ages - to name just a few - abound in Israel. Each and every historical site carries a unique story that could fill books, and many have.

A special bit of history for Australians is the famous charge of the Australian Light Horse Brigade during the Battle of Beersheba in 1917, widely reputed as the last successful cavalry charge in history. The charge effectively broke the Ottoman Empire's southern defenses, allowing British General Lord Edmund Allenby to advance on and capture Jerusalem and marking a major turning point in World War I.

A memorial to the Australian Light Horse has been erected in the southern Israel city of Beersheba, and more than 1,000 Australians, New Zealanders and Britons came to Israel in 2007 to reenact the charge on its 90th anniversary.

The Holy Land Israel is best known to travelers as the Holy Land, an area central to all three of the world's monotheistic religions.

Jerusalem is the heart of the Holy Land, hosting the Temple Mount, Western Wall and the Garden Tomb where Jesus is said to have been buried. But the rest of the country is not left wanting for religious significance.

Jesus' boyhood home of Nazareth and his base of ministry on the shores of the Sea of Galilee are sites not to be missed. Nor would any tour be complete without visits to locations in Israel's southern desert and central mountain regions that the biblical patriarchs called home.

All in all, Israel is a well-rounded travel destination for every kind of tourist, and is second to none for those interested in history and religious pilgrimage.

Money To Spare? Rolex Watches Can Make a Statement

By Ronald C. Lundy

Everyone in the world is familiar with the name Rolex. The brand is synonymous with wealth and luxury. The brand is also known for charging upwards of thousands of dollars for a single time piece. Only those lucky enough to be born into a family with such high finances are among the few people who can seriously consider purchasing a Rolex watch. But at such high prices are Rolex watches really worth the high cost?

Manufacturing about 2,000 watches per day Rolex is the worlds largest supplier of top of the line luxury watches. The brand got its start in Geneva Switzerland when watch maker Hans Wilsdorf began revolutionizing the field with his new designs and models in 1905. Rolex watches have always been at the cutting edge of technology and design. The Swiss brand was the first watch company to offer water proof cases as well as the first self winding watch in 1931. The tradition of innovation is still very much alive to this day in the Rolex Company.

Rolex watches are made with extreme precision and craftsmanship. The watches are very high quality and can withstand any environment. Of the many watch designs offered by Rolex a great number them were manufactured for deep sea divers and aviators. The watches are still functional under the extreme amounts of pressure one would experience deep under water or high above in the Earths atmosphere. For such a high price the watches are extremely durable.

Rolex watches are very unique. As well as being durable the watches also depict the person wearing them as extremely wealthy. It is no secret that with such a high price tag, that the watches are also extremely fashionable. Not only will the wearer appear to be extremely wealthy but they will also be on the cutting edge of time piece fashion with a Rolex watch.

Rolex watches are very expensive, bottom line. Even the lower quality models can cost about as much as a car. While this is unobtainable to the general public someone with that much disposable income should give purchasing a Rolex a lot of thought. There are many more items one can purchase at the same price.

With the Rolex being made out of such high quality parts it takes an equal amount of care and precision to repair a broken Rolex watch. Despite being very durable the watches are not completely impervious to scratches and damage. For the cost of repair one could purchase a completely new Rolex watch. This idea though seems very wasteful.

Just like any purchase one must weigh the advantages and disadvantages purchasing a Rolex watch might bring. But at such high prices it may be wiser to purchase a rather inexpensive replica watch.
